Community-measured 16-foot example. Measure your actual container before relying on a tight fit.
Width uses the clear space between beams. The extra 1.5 in wall recesses are excluded.
Default container is set as a 16-foot POD. Feel free to customize it to other POD sizes, U-Haul dimensions, or box truck sizes.

The default usable interior of a 16-foot POD is 185 in long × 85 in wide × 90 in high. The front 12 in is limited to 78 in high by the rolled-up door. These come from one previous POD customer's measured container dimensions.
The official 16 × 8 × 8 ft size is nominal, and interior dimensions can vary. The model conservatively excludes space between wall beams. Bay guides divide the space into quarters for planning.
Home Depot presets use retailer-listed nominal dimensions checked October 4, 2026. Measure the packed exterior, especially for heavy-duty boxes.
Furniture and appliance starting sizes are illustrative, not manufacturer specifications. Mattress footprints follow nominal US sizes; thicknesses are examples. Measure each actual piece, including split box springs, and check openings before nesting items.
This is a geometric planning tool. Rotations use 90° steps; boxes, mattresses, and miscellaneous items are solid cuboids; furniture uses simple rectangular parts with open space between them. The lowest contact faces must be fully supported. Tables have no apron or braces. Sofas and chairs use assumed arm, back, seat, and leg thicknesses; bookcases have a solid back and evenly spaced interior shelves with assumed panel thickness. Bed frames are solid platforms on four legs, with no headboard, footboard, or center supports. Parts stay attached when rotated. These generic shapes do not calculate structural strength or tipping stability. It does not model weight limits, crushing, straps, shifting, or a continuous path through the doorway. Order warnings test straight-in access only. “Find space” suggests a fit in the current orientation, but does not optimize the whole load.
